Frank Savona was one of the nicest and smartest guys that I ever met in my racing career. Driving his race car gave me credibility in the TQ racing community which eventually led to rides in midgets, and 410 sprint cars. I think I was the last driver of his awesome TQ race car, which he sold shortly after our last race together at Riverhead Raceway in 1978. I grew up watching Jim Lacy win many TQ races in Frank’s cars at the Island Garden and Commack Arena!
I’m so sorry that I missed the opportunity to visit with him before he passed away, I just discovered his obituary this evening (8/18/23) as I was trying to find his contact information.
