Learning of Jim’s passing took my breath away and filled me with overwhelming sadness. It brought back my cherished memories of his supportive presence in our intersecting lives. Jim helped and encouraged me, in the most caring and sensitive way when I needed it most; his intervention when I was considering resigning, as a young rookie, redirected the course of my life and gave me hope. Never at a loss for razor sharp wit, Jim’s ever present smile and unorthodox, ironic, and often unexpected humor were infectious and imbued our formal, hectic workplace with a dose of much needed humanity—he was a ray of sunshine to all of us. A man of deep intellect and substance, I will never forget his unwavering, loving support and counsel. Jim was and always will be my hero and role model. Thanks for all your help, Jim. Godspeed, my friend!
