The Greater Astoria Historical Society left a message on October 2, 2018:
I only recently learned of the passing of Rocco. He came several times to the Greater Astoria Historical Society to share his experiences in the WWII. One very memorable time was with 7th and 8th graders. As he spoke, the entire room was silent. When he finished, every student stood up and applauded him. I will never forget the look on his face. The last time I saw him was at the dedication of the veterans post in his honor. What a remarkable man. Rest in Peace.
Maxine Zuskin, Hampton, VA left a message on September 2, 2018:
I am so sorry to hear of Rocky's passing. He and my deceased husband, Bennie Zuskin, were war time buddies from D-Day and on through to the end of the war. We had been in contact with he and Monica for many years when we had Company reunions and by telephone. I have always considered him a dear friend and will miss knowing that I can pick up a telephone and chat with him. We especially enjoyed a trip to Belgium to visit our Belgian friends (M&M Schmetz, who live in the area of the Battle of the Bulge. I know he is up in heaven with his beloved Monica, and free at last of the pain he has endured in recent years. May you rest in peace, Rocky, and meet with all your old buddies!
