David Wiegand left a message on June 15, 2018:
My friend Harry Hassler fought the good fight and kept the faith . He served his Lord and Savior and others with distinction as an officer of the law, police chaplain, Vice-President of the Railroad Evangelistic Association and family man. He has received the the crown of righteousness reserved for him and all those who await Christ's coming (2 Timothy 4:7-8). End of watch my Christian bother and fellow railroader.

I knew Uncle Harry as a very kind and gracious man. I loved how he lived his life for God, his family and his country. I loved listening to his great stories, to his wisdom and humor! I loved being around Uncle Harry and Aunt Barbara, I loved to see their relationship and the relationship with Bill, John, Scott and Debbie and their families. He was the best of the best! I love you guys, you are in my thoughts and prayers, always!

Harry and I became friends through the Railroad Evangelistic Association. He loved the Lord our God with all his heart, soul mind and strength; and others more than himself. Harry, I'll miss you. I'll miss the fellowship we shared at REA conventions, our phone conversations and especially the times we spent in prayer together. Enjoy being in the presence of Jesus! And remember my brother, I'll be looking for you one day just inside the Eastern Gate.

Harry didn't have an enemy in the world or a mean bone in his body. I had the pleasure of working with him in Dist. 4 in the late '70s, when he was a sergeant, and he always provided kind assistance and very capable leadership to the men in his charge. Last year, I exchanger a few emails and letters with Harry in connection with his arranging for me to receive the Golden Spike Award. May our beloved friend Harry Hassler enjoy his eternal reward in the glory of heaver.
